AMPS
The AMPS is a graphical user interface based mission planning/battle synchronization tool that automates aviation mission planning tasks. The AMPS performs three distinct functions: CDR/S-3 planner, Aviator Planner, and aircraft data loader. As a Major Functional Area subordinate system of the Maneuver Control System, at the Aviation Battalion and Brigade levels, the AMPS improves battlefield synchronization / intelligence in the tactical command and control arena. AMPS communicates via radio, LAN, or diskette with Army Battle Command System nodes as well as the Aviation Tactical Operations Center (AVTOC) and the Army Airborne Command and Control System (A2C2S). This integration provides the AVTOC and the A2C2S systems with the ability to access, use and pass along critical aviation related mission information. The AMPS can greatly reduce the errors, aircraft run-up time, and workload currently associated with pre-mission planning and aircraft initialization tasks.
