INTRODUCTION

This slide illustrates the two major control philosophies in the UAV world. The station on the left, the E-Systems Common UAV Control Station, does not have a stick and throttle. The station on the right, the General Atomics Control Station has a stick and throttle. One philosophy wants to control the vehicle manually, while the other wants to control the vehicle indirectly. The FATE vehicle, being and experimental one will explore both of these control philosophies and should be able to exercise both kinds of control and blends of each.
