Notes:
The short turning radii inherent in a compact inlet duct provides the potential for poor aerodynamic performance. Compact inlets must achieve low distortion, low turbulence, and high pressure recovery to be viable for next generation aircraft. These risks will be mitigated through extensive CFD analyses and wind tunnel testing to confirm analytical predictions. The fallback position for this technology is to implement conventional duct design philosophy by lengthening ducts and moderating turns.
