VOICED AT:

INTRO: President Clinton used his Saturday radio address to pay tribute to those killed in the terrorist attack on the U-S Navy ship in Yemen, and to again vow to find those responsible. VOA's David Gollust reports from the White House.

TEXT: The President has ordered flags flown at half staff across the country for three days in honor of the victims from the crew of the U-S Navy destroyer U-S-S Cole. In the broadcast message, Mr. Clinton called those responsible for the attack "hate-filled cowards," and said they will not deter the United States from seeking peace and security in the Middle East:

///Clinton actuality///

That is why we will do whatever it takes, as long as it takes to find those who killed our sailors and hold them accountable. And why we will never let the enemies of freedom and peace stop America from seeking peace, fighting terrorism and promoting freedom.

///end act///

Mr. Clinton will attend a memorial event for those killed on Wednesday after his return from the Middle East summit in Egypt. He has spoken by phone with Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh, who has pledged his cooperation with the U-S investigation of the attack. (Signed)
