Basis of Issue Plan - BOIP
A. DESCRIPTION: THE ARMORED SECURITY VEHICLE (ASV) IS A WHEELED,
LIGHTLY ARMORED SECURITY VEHICLE. THE PRIMARY ARMAMENT ON THE
ASV IS THE MK-19, 40MM GMG AND THE M2, .50 CAL MG MOUNTED IN A
ONE MAN TURRET.
B. CAPABILITIES: THE ASV PROVIDES HIGH CROSS-COUNTRY MOBILITY,
HIGH CARGO PAYLOAD, VEHICULAR-MOUNTED FIREPOWER, MOBILE
COMMUNICATIONS CAPABILITY, GRENADE LAUNCHED SMOKESCREEN, AND
WRAP-AROUND/OVERHEAD BALLISTIC PROTECTION TO THE MP TEAM WHILE
PERFORMING THEIR FOUR BATTLEFIELD MISSIONS DURING ALL
WEATHER/VISIBILITY CONDITIONS AND IN ANY CLIMATE ZONE.
C. EMPLOYMENT: THE ASV WILL BE USED BY MILITARY POLICE TEAMS
PERFORMING THEIR 4 BATTLEFIELD MISSIONS IN WAR, CONFLICT, AND
SUPPORT AND STABILITY OPERATIONS (SASO). THESE TEAMS WILL OFTEN
OPERATE INDEPENDENTLY AND WIDELY DISPERSED ON THE MODERN
BATTLEFIELD.
D. BASIS OF ISSUE:
1. 15 ASVs PER MP CO CBT SPT (CORPS), 19477L000, AND MP CO
CBT SPT (EAC), 19677L000. REPLACES IN-PART M1025/1026 HMMWVs, OR
M1114 ARMAMENT CARRIER HMMWVs ON A BASIS OF 3 PER PLATOON
(ONE ASV SQUAD PER PLATOON) AND 3 PER MP OPERATIONS CENTER.
2. 29 ASVs PER MP CO (HVY DIV)(FORCE XXI), 19333F000.
REPLACING IN-PART M1025/1026 HMMWVs OR M1114 ARMAMENT CARRIER
HMMWVs ON A BASIS OF 3 PER DS PLATOON (1 ASV SQUAD PER PLATOON)
AND 10 PER GS PLT.
E. POWER REQUIREMENTS: NONE
F. TRANSPORTATION REQUIREMENTS: TRANSPORTABLE (ROLL-ON/ROLL-OFF)
BY C-130, C-17 AND LARGER USAF AIRCRAFT, PLUS RAIL AND MARINE
TRANSPORT MODES. THE ASV IS NOT REQUIRED TO BE AIR-DROPABLE OR
SLINGLOADED UNDER THE CH-47 AIRCRAFT.
G. PERSONNEL/MAINTENANCE IMPACTS:

(A) CREW SIZE/MOS: 3-MAN CREW WITH EVERY THIRD
VEHICLE CARRYING A FOURTH PERSON, THE SQUAD LEADER. OS 95B
AND AOC 31A.
(B) TRAINING REQUIREMENTS: PERSONNEL WILL REQUIRE NEW
EQUIPMENT TRAINING (NETT). INSTITUTIONAL TRAINING (USAMPS)
WILL CONSIST OF DOCTRINE AND TACTICS TRAINING (DDT), AND
EQUIPMENT FAMILIARIZATION TRAINING.
