LBA / JSTARS LOS Connectivity
Types of information transferred
- Radar Target Data; FCR from LBA, MTI from JSTARS
- Request Present Position, Present Position, Shot at
Comms Flow:
1 The LBA uses AFAPD messages to exchange data with other LBA aircraft. The JSTARS also communicates with LBA in the same way. For A2C2S, the only difference between receiving from the LBA or the JSTARS is the sender ID.
2 The AFAPD messages are received by either SINCGARS or HAVEQUICK radios (JCIT). SINCGARS is most likely waveform since LBA reserves the Havequick for voice communications. The IDM functionality in the JCIT converts the signal to a data stream and puts it on the LAN.
3 The data stream is picked up by the SIS workstation which parses the AFAPD messages and displays them locally. [this is only a proposed solution - not firm yet, other applications for viewing AFAPD are being reviewed]
