AFATDS Connectivity

Comms Flow: AFATDS to AFATDS via NTDR
1 AFATDS to AFATDS communications via NTDR is the same as MCS
Comms Flow: AFATDS to AFATDS via SINCGARS
2 The AFATDS workstation may send messages via either the NTDR or the TCIM / SINCGARS. If there is no NTDR route for the message but there is a SINCGARS route, SINCGARS will be used. The AFATDS workstation makes this decision. This communication is 188-220 protocol, VMF messages (not the same as TI however).
3 When SINCGARS is used, the AFATDS workstation sends the message out via the SCSCI port to the VME TCIM in the same chassis. The TCIM then converts the data to FSK tones (same as a computer modem) for the SINCGARS radio. The SINCGARS then transmits the message to the other AFATDS workstation via the Fires net.
Comms Flow: AFATDS / Non-AFATDS via SINCGARS
4 When the AFATDS workstation communicates with Non-AFATDS entities, Tacfire protocol and messages are used instead of 188-220 / VMF. The AFATDS workstation makes the decision to use Tacfire or 188-220/VMF.
