Description:
- The Improved Data Modem (IDM) (MD-1295/A) is being developed for joint services use. The IDM is a high speed digital data link modem capable of passing near real-time targeting data between joint services air and ground weapons platforms in support of the following missions:
- Suppression of Enemy Air Defense (SEAD)
- Close Air Support (CAS)
- Forward Air Control (FAC)
- Special Operations
- Air Combat
- Command and Control
- The Interconnectivity of the IDM between Air Force and Army platforms creates Situational Awareness that our Warfighters need for a clear and concise picture of the multi-dimensional battlefield. Situational Awareness through the IDM-SINCGARS SIP/PLGR network reaches to lower levels within the Ground Forces that EPLRS networks, for better combat ID of friendlies. The IDM supports VMF/MIL-STD-188-220 messages.
