AN/TPN-30 Marine Remote Area Approach and Landing System (MRAALS)
The Marine Corps AN/TPN-30 is an all weather Instrument Landing System. The system provides azimuth, elevation and range data to suitably
equipped aircraft. Azimuth and elevation data is transmitted on a
single channel and range data is transmitted on a single TACAN
channel.A modification to the TPN-30 incorporates a TACAN bearing capability that enabledsthe system to provide pilots with range and
bearing to the MRAALS location and the identification of the
facility. In all, 81 systems have been delivered.
