LIN:T08843
GENERAL:
The TRTG is an AN/APQ-153/159 radar set mounted in a S-250 shelter. It contains an optical subsystem that can be slaved to the radar antenna and an instrumentation subsystem that is capable of recording data for debriefing later. The radar is a modified J-Band set which provides tactical aircrews with a training radar system capable of generating threat radar characteristics similar to those expected to be encountered on the battlefield. This system has been transitioned to Communications-Electronics Command (CECOM). The CECOM point of contact is Mr. Charles Prattus, DSN 992-2308.
PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS::
The TRTG consists of nine line replaceable units mounted in the S-250 shelter. The system mounts on a M35A2 2-1/2 ton truck and is powered by an external generator. The M880 is no longer in production and has been replaced by the CUCV M1008.
THREAT COVERAGE:
The TRTG is capable of generating threat radar characteristics representative of those threat radar signals expected to be encountered on the battlefield. The TRTG is capable of detecting, acquiring, tracking aircraft and displaying the information on a video monitor.
APPLICABILITY:
