Typical provisions required for new vehicle design include: alternate means of lateral/directional S&C, power for actuation of the alternate surfaces, additional heat rejection capacity, additional weight of new equipment and structure and more sophisticated flight control laws. Existing vehicle modifications include: new control suite, adequate power for actuation, additional heat sink and substantial modifications to the flight control laws.
