Notes:
Continuous aerodynamic control surface (CACS) technologies employ a flexible structure material to seal the gaps at the hingeline and edges of a control surface. A rod-reinforced elastomer is embedded in a flexible elastomer providing the transition section. This results in a smooth transition from the airfoil to the control surface thereby minimizing flow separation and improving control power. Gaps and blade seals are eliminated from the control, which results in a surface compatible with LO systems.
