0730 - WHILE ON CSE 090.5, SEATTLE HELMSMAN USES 4 DEGREES OF LEFT RUDDER WITH NO RESPONSE --- WHEN GYRO REPEATER JUMPED/JERKED TO 089.5

0630 --- THE MASTER HELMSMAN (QM3), REPORTED TO THE HELM SAFETY OFFICER (LT), THAT THE MK19 GYRO REPEATER HAD JUMPED THREE DEGREES AND HE HAD USED 10 DEGREES RIGHT RUDDER TO RETURN THE SHIP TO COURSE. THE JOOD/OOD U/I HEARD THE QM3 STATE “HOLY COW, I BARELY CAUGHT IT”
0630 --- THE HSO DISCUSSES THE REPEATER JUMP AND ACTION TAKEN BY HELMSMAN TO CORRECT IT. JOOD/OOD U/I DISMISSES IT AS “PRESSURE WAVE EFFECT” . NEITHER JOOD OR HSO REPORT THIS ANOMALY TO THE OOD, THEIR WATCH RELIEFS OR ANYONE ELSE ON THE BRIDGE.
0630 --- CO OF WASP EXPRESSES CONCERN TO CO OF SEATTLE ABOUT THE RAPID CLOSURE RATE ANDTHAT HE HAD NO EXPLANATION HOW IT HAPPENED. CO OF SEATTLE SAID HE OBSERVED NOTHING ADN THAT CLOSURES LIKE THIS FREQUENTLY HAPPEN. CO OF WASP SHOULD NOT BE CONCERNED.
0730 -- NEW MASTER HELMSMAN (WAS TOLD OF EARLIER 3 DEGREE SHIFT INCIDENT) OBSERVES THIS SECOND REPEATER SKIPPING/STICKING ANOMALY. REPORTS IT TO SAME HSO WHO ACKNOWLEDGES IT, TAKES NO ACTION AND TELLS NO ONE.
0730 -- HELM SAFTEY OFFICER RELIEVED BY ENSIGN. NOT TOLD OF EITHER INCIDENT.
