Notes:
CART II on both coasts is approximately 1 week in duration.
CART II is a validation of ownships self-assessment. Checklists are available through ATG’s and primarily via computer bulletin boards. Ships need to be ready upon ATG (as well as PEB) arrival to present them the results of their own own self assessment. A ship’s own knowledge and determination of where their own training strengths and weaknesses are, cannot be under estimated. The key to self-sufficient, successful training begins with knowing where your training teams need training, this is what CART II is designed to accomplish.
Shipboard manning documents, watchbills, etc will be reviewed,
Knowledge exams will be administered to certain personnel through out the ship.
Administrative programs from Ships Office to Non-Nuclear handling and all in between will be reviewed.
Equipment material checks in all areas will be conducted.
Condition III scenarios will be run to baseline not only shipboard training teams but the watchstanders level of training as well. Scenarios will test not only the tactical proficiency of the training teams and watchstanders but will exercise their abilities to conduct and control technical equipment casualties as well.
