Notes:
CART I: Could be the most critical event to the success of your IDTC.
CART I has not changed from how CART I’s were conducted in the past. The SURFTRAMAN is the document for delineating the requirements on how to conduct CART I’s, in detail.
CART I is designed to have the shipboard senior leadership assess and plan for the next IDTC.
“IF” you meet CART I requirements as laid out in the SURFTRAMAN you will be setting your ship up for success in meeting required as well as non-required training requirements.
Currently there is no requirement for a ship to submit a CART I report, CART I results or any type of CART I completion to an ISIC. But more and more ISIC’s, specifically Squadron Commanders, are requesting post CART I completion reports.
CART I is conducted before the end of each major deployment for active units homeported in CONUS 12 to 14 weeks prior to return from major deployment. Ships homeported as part of the Forward Deployed Naval Forces (FDNF) will conduct CART I four months before SRA/PMA. Naval Reserve Force (NRF) non-deploying units will conduct CART I at 18-24 month intervals as scheduled by their ISIC.
