3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES:

        (1)  MULTIDISCIPLINED INTELLIGENCE COLLECTION AND
COUNTERINTELLIGENCE IN DIRECT SUPPORT OF A DIVISIONAL INFANTRY
BRIGADE, INCLUDING THE CONTROL OF UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLES
(UAV) FLOWN IN SUPPORT OF THE BRIGADE WHEN APPROPRIATE
BASIS OF ISSUE PLAN (BOIP) INCREMENTAL CHANGE PACKAGES (ICP)
ARE APPLIED; PROCESSING AND INTERPRETATION OF UAV IMAGERY WHEN
APPROPRIATE UAV ICP ARE APPLIED; AND INTERROGATION OF ENEMY
PRISONERS OF WAR.

        (2)  RECEIPT, PROCESSING, AND INTERPRETATION OF AERIAL
SURVEILLANCE RADAR IMAGERY IN DIRECT SUPPORT OF THE INFANTRY
BRIGADE WHEN APPROPRIATE ICP ARE APPLIED.

        (3)  TECHNICAL MANAGEMENT OF INTELLIGENCE ASSETS OF
THE MILITARY INTELLIGENCE BATTALION PLACED IN DIRECT SUPPORT
OF THE INFANTRY BRIGADE, WHEN APPROPRIATE ICP ARE APPLIED.

        (4)  SCREENING OF INTELLIGENCE REQUIREMENTS FROM THE
SUPPORTED INFANTRY BRIGADE FOR ACTION, PASSING INTELLIGENCE
REQUIREMENTS BEYOND THE CAPABILITY OF THE DIRECT SUPPORT
COMPANY TO THE ANALYSIS AND CONTROL ELEMENT OF THE MILITARY
INTELLIGENCE BATTALION FOR ACTION.

        (5)  GROUND SURVEILLANCE TEAMS TO OPERATE FOUR RADAR
SETS TO DETECT MOVING TARGETS.  THESE TEAMS WILL BE REMOVED
WHEN TACTICAL UNMANNED AERIAL VEHICLE (TUAV) IS FIELDED
(AND DELETED FROM THE TOE WHEN THE TUAV BOIP ICP IS APPLIED).

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR
REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%, FROM
APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR LEVEL
3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION CAN ASSIST IN THE
COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON:

        (1)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS FOR
LEGAL, HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT, FINANCE, AND PERSONNEL AND

        (2)  SUPPORTED MANEUVER BRIGADE FOR EVACUATION OF
DISABLED VEHICLES, FOOD SERVICE, AND POL SUPPORT WHEN DEPLOYED
IN DS ROLE.  WHEN IN GARRISON, SUPPORT IS PROVIDED BY HHOC.

        (3)  HEADQUARTERS, HEADQUARTERS AND OPERATIONS
COMPANY, MILITARY INTELLIGENCE BATTALION, TOE 34386F000 FOR
RELIGIOUS SUPPORT; UNIT-LEVEL ADMINISTRATION; UNIT MAINTENANCE
ON ALL EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY (COMSEC)
AND CONTROLLED CRYPTOGRAPHIC ITEMS (CCI) EQUIPMENT; AND DIRECT
SUPPORT MAINTENANCE ON COMMUNICATIONS-ELECTRONICS AND
INTELLIGENCE ELECTRONIC WARFARE EQUIPMENT, INCLUDING COMSEC
AND CCI EQUIPMENT.

        (4)  THE SUPPORTED MANEUVER BRIGADE WHEN EMPLOYED
IN THE DS ROLE FOR FOOD SERVICE AND HANDLING.

        (5)  GENERAL SUPPORT (GS) COMPANY FOR COUNTER-INTEL-
LIGENCE (CI) AND INTERROGATION SUPPORT.

4.  LIMITATIONS.  N/A

5.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  THREE PER MILITARY INTELLIGENCE
BATTALION, TOE 34385F000.

6.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY II UNIT.

7.  MOBILITY.

    A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 26,700 POUNDS
(2,192 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 15,004 POUNDS (1,200 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE
EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT AND
SUPPLIES TO BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS
AUTHORIZED ORGANIC VEHICLES (MI MOBILITY AND TRANSPORTABILITY
CONCEPT, 20 SEPT 94).

     b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revision of
this table of organization and equipment (TOE).

          (1)  This revision of the military intelligence company
(direct support (DS)) represents an update of the current C-edition
table 34397C000, inherent to the Digitized Division (XXI).  The goal
of this effort is develop a TOE which accurately reflects the system
modernization path and organizational structure necessary to deploy.

          (2)  This DTOE includes the base TOE (BTOE), various
incremental change packages (ICP) in the form of Basis of Issue
Plans (BOIP), and the objective TOE (OTOE).  As part of the anal-
ysis, this TOE reflects approved doctrine and the latest informa-
tion regarding changes in operational concepts, updated manpower
requirements and related BOIP data.

          (3)  This TOE has been prepared in accordance with the
provisions of current "F"TOE development regulations and guidance.

          (4)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE
have been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in AR
220-1, Unit Status Reporting and are aligned at the paragraph level
of detail.

          (5)  The unit MARC code is 21A.  This is a combat support
unit which operates in a Division area.  The unit is mobile and
normally maneuvers/moves.

2.  EMPLOYMENT. The Military Intelligence Company (DS) provides
dedicated support to the brigade commander and S2.  The MI Bn
Commander strives to establish a habitual relationship between the
brigade and the designated DS company.  This allows the DS company
to provide virtually organic support.  Based on mission, enemy,
terrain, troops, and time available, the brigade may receive
reinforcing human intelligence (HUMINT), imagery intelligence
(IMINT), signals intelligence (SIGINT), or counterintelligence
(CI) assets from the division, corps, or echelons above corps
(EAC).

3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTION.  (NOTE: In the following
paragraphs, the only personnel requirements listed are those not
covered by criteria and measurable manpower authorization standards
contained in MARC Bulletin Board or its supported databases.)

     a.  PARAGRAPH 01, COMPANY HEADQUARTERS.

          (1)  The function of the company headquarters is to
provide command and control, unit administration, and logistical
support for the company.  The commander of the direct support
company is the principal intelligence operator in the maneuver
brigade and spends much of his time fulfilling that role.

          (2)  Personnel requirements not covered by regulatory

It directly tasks company organic assets and all reinforcing assets.
This is the primary conduit for receiving intelligence data from
division, corps, and EAC and distributing it to appropriate users
in the maneuver brigade.
