1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE MILITARY POLICE COMBAT SUPPORT TO AN
ASSIGNED AREA OF OPERATIONS.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  TO A HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS DETACHMENT
(HHD) MILITARY POLICE (MP) BATTALION, TOE 19476L000.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES, ON A PRIORITIZED
BASIS, ANY ONE OF THE FOLLOWING CAPABILITIES:

         (1)  BATTLEFIELD CIRCULATION CONTROL OF UP TO 360
KILOMETERS (KM) OF MAIN, AXIAL, AND ALTERNATE SUPPLY ROUTES.

         (2)  AREA SECURITY OF 2,000 SQUARE KM OF RURAL
TERRAIN, OR 800 SQUARE KM OF HIGH DENSITY URBAN TERRAIN, OR
1,000 SQUARE KM OF TERRAIN OUTSIDE AN AIR FORCE MAIN OPERATING
BASE'S DESIGNATED SECURITY AREA OF RESPONSIBILITY.

         (3)  SECURITY OF 12 SMALL, CRITICAL SITES,
FACILITIES, OR STORAGE AREAS.

         (4)  EXTERNAL LOCAL SECURITY FOR FOUR DIVISION
CONVENTIONAL AMMUNITION SUPPLY POINTS OPERATED BY A DIRECT
SUPPORT ORDNANCE COMPANY OR TWO GENERAL SUPPORT ORDNANCE
COMPANIES OPERATING WITHIN THE CORPS STORAGE AREA.

         (5)  SECURITY OF 400 KM OF PIPELINE, OR THREE
QUARTERMASTER PETROLEUM TERMINAL/PIPELINE OPERATING COMPANIES.

         (6)  RAILWAY SECURITY OF SEVEN TRAINS.

         (7)  SECURITY FOR .66 OF THE REQUIREMENTS FOR DEEP
WATER PORTS (NOT INCLUDING LINES OF COMMUNICATION).

         (8)  ESCORT OF 1,900 ENEMY PRISONERS OF WAR (EPW)
WHEN WALKING, 2,500 EPW WHEN TRAVELING BY VEHICLE, OR 3,300
EPW WHEN TRAVELING BY TRAIN.

         (9)  GUARDING OF UP TO 2,000 EPW IN A HOLDING AREA
HAVING ADEQUATE FACILITIES.

        (10)  CONTROL OF DISMOUNTED REFUGEE MOVEMENT OF UP TO
150,000 PER DAY (NOT INCLUDING THE CARE, SHELTER, OR
PROTECTION OF THE SAME).

        (11)  BATTLEFIELD LAW AND ORDER FOR 75,000
NONDIVISIONAL PERSONNEL OR GARRISON LAW AND ORDER FOR 25,000
PERSONNEL.

        (12)  DETENTION OF 700 U.S. MILITARY PRISONERS.

        (13)  SECURITY OF ONE MAJOR HEADQUARTERS.

        (14)  REINFORCEMENT OF ONE DIVISION MP COMPANY.

        (15)  COMBAT OPERATIONS THROUGH THE EMPLOYMENT OF
MOBILE COMBAT SYSTEMS CONTAINING 3-MAN TEAMS OPERATING
INDEPENDENTLY OR IN CONCERT AND HAVING VEHICLE CREW-SERVED AND
INDIVIDUAL WEAPONS CAPABLE OF DEFENDING A POSITION AGAINST
DISMOUNTED INFANTRY.

        (16)  SUPPORT OF COUNTER DRUG OPERATIONS (TO INCLUDE
BORDER SCREENING, MARIJUANA ERADICATION, CUSTOMS AUGMENTATION,
AND TRAINING) PURSUANT TO CONTROLLING LAWS AND WITHIN THE
PROVISIONS OF DEPARTMENT OF DEFENSE POLICY.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR
REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%, FROM
APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR LEVEL
3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS UNIT CAN ASSIST IN THE COORDINATED
DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC
EQUIPMENT, EXCEPT POWER GENERATION EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT PROVIDES UNIT LEVEL MAINTENANCE FOR CO-
LOCATED CID ELEMENTS.

    H.  THIS UNIT PROVIDES FOOD SERVICE SUPPORT FOR ASSIGNED
PERSONNEL AND FOR TOEs 19472L000, 19476L000, 19483L000, AND
19486L000, AND OTHER MP UNITS IF ATTACHED.

    I.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE
CORPS FOR:

        (1)  LEGAL, HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT, FINANCE, AND
PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.

        (2)  PACKING, RIGGING, AND LOADING SUPPLIES AND
EQUIPMENT FOR AIRBORNE OPERATIONS.

        (3)  INDIRECT FIRE SUPPORT AND CLOSE AIR SUPPORT
DURING REAR BATTLE COMBAT OPERATIONS.

        (4)  THE HHD, MP BATTALION, TOE 19476L000 FOR
RELIGIOUS SERVICES, SUPPLEMENTAL CLASS III AND V SUPPORT, AND
REPAIR OF POWER GENERATION EQUIPMENT.

    J.  WHEN ATTACHED, ASSIGNED, OR COMMITTED TO EMPLOYMENT
WITH AN AIRBORNE UNIT OR ORGANIZATION, THIS UNIT WILL BE
DESIGNATED AIRBORNE AND APPROPRIATE CHANGES WILL BE MADE TO
THE MILITARY OCCUPATIONAL SPECIALTY IN THIS TABLE.

    B.  TEN COMPANIES PER CORPS, ONE OF WHICH IS FOR SECURITY
OF THE CORPS HEADQUARTERS.

    C.  ONE COMPANY PER CORPS SUPPORT COMMAND FOR SECURITY OF
THE HEADQUARTERS.

    D.  .75 COMPANY PER DIRECT SUPPORT ORDNANCE COMPANY FOR
LOCAL SECURITY.

    E.  .50 COMPANY PER GENERAL SUPPORT ORDNANCE COMPANY FOR
LOCAL SECURITY.

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY II UNIT.

6.  MOBILITY.

    A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 46,200 POUNDS
(1,567 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 48,566 POUNDS (4,181 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE
EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF THIS TOE EQUIPMENT
AND SUPPLIES TO BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS

1.  PURPOSE. This package summarizes the results of a cyclic review
for the Headquarters, Department of the Army (HQDA) - approved
military police company, combat support, L-edition table of
organization and equipment (LTOE).  The review was conducted to
ensure that the document reflects the latest doctrine and
revalidate the requirements for personnel and equipment.

    e.  Major Changes.  New MARC figures have been applied to this
TOE and the communications equipment has been reconfigured based on
the latest approved OPFAC rules dated Mar 97.

2.  MISSION/CAPABILITIES/SECTION I.

    a.  Provides military police combat support to an assigned area
of operations.

    b.  At level 1, this unit provides, on a prioritized basis, any
one of the following capabilities:

         (1)  Battlefield circulation control of up to 360
kilometers (km) of main, axial, and alternate supply routes.

         (2)  Area security of 2,000 square km of rural terrain, or
800 square km of high density urban terrain, or 1,000 square km of
terrain outside an air force main operating base's designated
security area of responsibility.

         (3)  Security of 12 small, critical sites, facilities, or
storage areas.

         (4)  External local security for four division conventional
ammunition supply points operated by a direct support ordnance
company or two general support ordnance companies operating within
the corps storage area.

         (5)  Security of 400 km of pipeline, or three quartermaster
petroleum terminal/pipeline operating companies.

         (6)  Railway security of seven trains.

         (7)  Security for .66 of the requirements for deep water
ports (not including lines of communication).

         (8)  Escort of 1,900 enemy prisoners of war (EPW) when
walking, 2,500 EPW when traveling by vehicle, or 3,300 EPW when
traveling by train.

         (9)  Guarding of up to 2,000 EPW in a holding area having
adequate facilities.

        (10)  Control of dismounted refugee movement of up to
150,000 per day (not including the care, shelter, or protection
of the same).

        (11)  Battlefield law and order for 75,000 nondivisional
personnel or garrison law and order for 25,000 personnel.

        (12)  Detention of 700 U.S. military prisoners.

        (13)  Security of one major headquarters.

        (14)  Reinforcement of one division MP company.

        (15)  Combat operations through the employment of mobile
combat systems containing 3-man teams operating independently
or in concert and having vehicle crew-served and individual weapons
capable of defending a position against dismounted infantry.

        (16)  Support of counter drug operations (to include border
screening, marijuana eradication, customs augmentation, and
training) pursuant to controlling laws and within the provisions of
department of defense policy.

3.  ASSIGNMENT.  To a headquarters and headquarters detachment
(HHD), Military Police Battalion, TOE 19476L000.

4.  PERSONNEL.

    a.  Differences between design and documented OTOE requirements

     b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revision of
Tables of Organization and Equipment (TOE):

        (1)  Cyclic review.

        (2)  This version of the TOE has been prepared to
incorporate current doctrinal concepts and techniques, and update
the MARC driven positions.

        (3)  This version of the TOE has been prepared in accordance
with the provisions of current TOE development regulations and
guidance.

        (4)  All Equipment Readiness Codes in this TOE have been
reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in AR 220-1, Unit
Status Reporting.  They also have been reviewed to ensure they are
aligned at the paragraph level of detail.

        (5)  The unit MARC Code is 21A.  This is a combat support
unit which operates in the corps and division area.  The unit is
mobile and normally maneuvers/moves.

2.  EMPLOYMENT

     a.  One MP company will be assigned per division.

     b.  The company headquarters and the operations center are
employed within the same AO and are usually supported by one platoon
in the vicinity.  The other platoons operate in respective AOs as
assigned.

3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTION.

     a.  PARAGRAPH 01, COMPANY HEADQUARTERS.

        (1)  The function of the company headquarters is to command,
control, and sustain the  unit.  It ensures personnel are trained
and armed and equipment is manned, fielded, and repaired.
