    e.  Major Changes.  New MARC figures have been applied to this
TOE and the communications equipment has been reconfigured based on
the latest approved OPFAC rules dated Dec 97.

2.  MISSION/CAPABILITIES/SECTION I.

    a.  Provides military police combat support to an assigned area
of operations.

    b.  At level 1, this unit provides, on a prioritized basis, any
one of the following capabilities:

           (1)  A Provost Marshal Operations Section to exercise
operational control over assigned and attached units military police
(MP) units and to coordinate and advise on Joint, Multinational, and
Interagency Area Security/Force Protection operations.

           (2)  Maneuver and Mobility Support to expedite movement of
vehicular traffic and individuals in the division.

           (3)  Area Security through the use of mobile patrols,
reconnaissance, and response force capability.

           (4)  One Enemy Prisoner of War (EPW)/Civilian Internee
collecting point within the division rear area.

           (5)  Battlefield Law and Order operations.

           (6)  Temporary detention of U.S. military prisoners.

           (7)  Conduct investigations, as required.

           (8)  Support criminal intelligence and human intelligence
collection plans.

           (9)  Support counter drug operations (to include border
screening, marijuana eradication, customs augmentation and training)
pursuant to controlling laws and within the provisions of Department
of Defense policy.

           (10)  Anti-aircraft support in a self-defense role by the
employment of Stinger Air Defense Missiles.

           (11)  When augmented by the Division band, TOE 12113l000:

                    (aa)  Provide security operations for the
division Main CP and the All Source Production Section (ASPS), and
other missions as required.

                    (bb)  Guard EPW.

    b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions of

        (1)  This revision incorpates concept changes, applies
updated MARC,and applies incremental TOE development procedures.

        (2)  This version of the TOE has been prepared in accordance
with the provisions of current TOE development regulations and
guidance.

        (3)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE have
been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in AR 220-1,
Unit Status Reporting.  They also have been reviewed to ensure they
are aligned at the paragraph level of detail.

        (4)  The unit MARC Code is 21A.  This is a combat support
unit that operates in the division area. It is considered a mobile
unit and moves.

2.  EMPLOYMENT.

     a.  There is one MP Company (Light Infantry Division) organic
to the Light Infantry Division.  The company is employed under the
control of the division provost marshal.  The company is organized
with an operations section, headquarters section, and three general
support (GS) platoons each consisting of a platoon headquarters and
three squads.  This unit has minimum essential personnel and
equipment, and has the capability to sustain itself for only 48 hours
of combat operations without augmentation.

     b.  The MP Company (Light Infantry Division) operates under the
concept that battlefield circulation control (BCC), area security,
and the collection of enemy prisoners of war (EPW) are the most
important functions during combat.  Specifically, BCC expedites the
forward movement of combat resources by performing route
reconnaissance and surveillance, MSR regulation enforcement,
straggler and refugee control, and information dissemination.
Additional military police functions vital to the support of the
division are area reconnaissance; security of designated personnel,
units, convoys, facilities (i.e., division main command post and the
All-Source Production Section (ASPS)) and MSR critical points; area
damage control operations; intelligence collecting and reporting; NBC
detecting and reporting; and limited battlefield law and order
operations.

     c.  The MP Company (Light Infantry Division) is not resourced to
provide direct support to the maneuver brigades.  The traditional MP
responsibilities within the brigade area are absorbed by the
brigades.  The company has three GS platoons to support the division.
One platoon is located in the vicinity of the division main CP so its
resources can support CP security.  Another platoon locates in the
DSA and operates the division EPW collecting point.  The remaining
platoon has an AO configured in accord with METT-T and the
commander's priority of MP missions.

3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.

    a.  PARAGRAPH 01, Division Provost Marshal Operations Section.

        (1)  Functions.  Provides the staff planning, direction,
supervision, and coordination of military police combat support to
the Light Division.

   TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

       C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT
   AND SUPPLIES BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING
