                         DESIGNATION:  TROOP -----(CAVALRY), ----- ARMORED CAVALRY




1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE SECURITY AND PERFORM
RECONNAISSANCE FOR THE UNIT TO WHICH ASSIGNED OR ATTACHED
AND TO ENGAGE IN OFFENSIVE, DEFENSIVE, DELAYING AND ECONOMY
OF FORCE OPERATIONS.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO AN ARMORED CAVALRY SQUADRON,
ARMORED CAVALRY REGIMENT, TOE 17485L100.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

        (1) PROVIDES SECURITY, PERFORMS RECONNAISSANCE AND
SURVEILLANCE FOR THE UNIT TO WHICH ASSIGNED OR ATTACHED.

        (2) EXECUTES MISSIONS SUITABLE FOR LIGHT ARMORED
UNITS IN THE MAIN BATTLE AND COVERING FORCE AREAS.

        (3) CONDUCTS INDEPENDENT ACTIONS WHEN SUITABLY
REINFORCED.

   B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR
LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B
ORGANIZATION.

   D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY
AR 220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION CAN ENGAGE IN THE
COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS ORGANIZATION PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL
ORGANIC EQUIPMENT, EXCEPT COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY (COMSEC)
EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON:

        (1)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE REGIMENT OR CORPS
FOR RELIGIOUS, LEGAL, COMBAT HEALTH SUPPORT, MESS, FINANCE,
AND PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.

        (2)  SUPPORT SQUADRON, ACR, TOE 63065L000, FOR
COMSEC MAINTENANCE.

        (3)  FIELD ARTILLERY BATTERY, TOE 06037L000, FOR A
FIRE SUPPORT TEAM (FIST) AND VEHICLE (FISTV).

        (4)  ENGINEER COMPANY, TOE 05113L000, FOR MOBILITY,
COUNTER-MOBILITY, AND SURVIVABILITY SUPPORT.

4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  THREE PER ARMORED CAVALRY
SQUADRON, TOE 17485L100.

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT
(FOR UNIT CATEGORIES, SEE AR 310-25).

6.  MOBILITY.

    A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 98,820 POUNDS
(6,099 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 49,103 POUNDS (3,919 CUBIC FEET) OF
TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT
AND SUPPLIES TO BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS
AUTHORIZED ORGANIC VEHICLES (SOURCE:  FM 17-95).

1.  GENERAL.

    b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions
of Table(s) of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

        (1)  Cyclic review in accordance with AR 71-32.

        (2)  TOE 17487C000 revises 17487L000 for the Armored
Cavalry Troop, Armored Cavalry Squadron.  It provides security and
performs reconnaisance for units to which assigned or attached.
This revision incorporates concept changes, applies updated MARC,
and applies incremental TOE development procedures.

        (3)  This version of the TOE is prepared in accordance with
the provisions of current TOE development regulations and guidance.

        (4) All Equipment Readiness Codes (ERC) in the TOE comply
with the criteria in AR 220-1, Unit Status Reporting.

        (5)  The unit MARC Code is 11A.  This is a combat unit that
operates in  the forward area.  This unit moves frequently and must
be 100% mobile.

2.  EMPLOYMENT.  The armored cavalry troop performs reconnaissance
and security missions to protect and preserve the fighting ability
of the units to which it is assigned or attached.  The troop also
conducts offensive and defensive operations, normally as an economy
of force.

3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.

    a.  PARAGRAPH 01, TROOP HEADQUARTERS.

        (1)  Functions. Provides command and control for the
conduct of combat, logistical, and training functions of the troop.
To accomplish these functions, the troop commander is assisted by
an executive officer, first sergeant, tank commander/master gunner,
supply sergeant, cavalry fighting vehicle (CFV) gunner,
gunner/assistant tank commander, NBC NCO, two carrier drivers,
CFV driver, tank crewman, tank crewman (loader), armorer, and a
vehicle driver.

    e.  PARAGRAPH 05, MAINT SECTION.

        (1) Function.  Performs unit level maintenance on organic
equipment and operates recovery vehicle for recovery of disabled
tracked and wheeled vehicles.  To accomplish these functions, the
maintenance supervisor is assisted by six BFVS mechanics, two BFVS
turret mechanics, one tank automotive mechanic, two tank turret
mechanics, two recovery vehicle operators, two equipment
records/parts clerks,a signal support systems maintainer, and a
quartermaster/chemical equipment repairer.
