1.  MISSION.  TO CLOSE WITH AND DESTROY ENEMY FORCES, USING
FIRE, MANEUVER, AND SHOCK EFFECT.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO AN ARMORED CAVALRY SQUADRON,
ARMORED CAVALRY REGIMENT, TOE 17485L100.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

        (1)  CONDUCTS OPERATIONS REQUIRING A HIGH DEGREE OF
FIREPOWER, MOBILITY, ARMOR PROTECTION, AND SHOCK EFFECT.

        (2)  ATTACKS OR DEFENDS UNDER HOSTILE FIRE AND
DURING LIMITED VISIBILITY CONDITIONS.

        (3)  DESTROYS ENEMY MOUNTED AND DISMOUNTED FORCES.

        (4)  PROVIDES THE MOBILITY, ARMOR PROTECTION, AND
FIREPOWER TO EXPLOIT THE INTEGRATED USE OF CONVENTIONAL,
NUCLEAR, AND CHEMICAL FIRES.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR
LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR 220-
1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION CAN ENGAGE IN THE
COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC
EQUIPMENT, EXCEPT COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY (COMSEC) EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON:

        (1)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE REGIMENT OR CORPS
FOR RELIGIOUS, LEGAL, COMBAT HEALTH SUPPORT, MESS, FINANCE,
PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.

        (2)  FIELD ARTILLERY BATTERY, TOE 06037L000, FOR A
FIRE SUPPORT TEAM (FIST) AND VEHICLE (FISTV).

        (3)  SUPPORT SQUADRON, ACT, TOE 63065L000, FOR COMSEC
MAINTENANCE.

4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  ONE PER ARMORED CAVALRY SQUADRON,
TOE 17485L100.

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT
(FOR UNIT CATEGORIES, SEE AR 310-25).

6.  MOBILITY.

    A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 72,320 POUNDS
(3,853 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 31,754 POUNDS (2,437 CUBIC FEET) OF
TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100% OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT AND
SUPPLIES TO BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS
AUTHORIZED ORGANIC VEHICLES (SOURCE:  USAARMS, FM 17-95).

    b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions of
Table(s) of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

        (1)  Cyclic review in accordance with AR 71-32.

        (2)  TOE 17477C000 revises 17477L000 as the doctrinal
architecture for the Tank Company, Armored Cavalry Squadron,
Armored Cavalry Regiment.  The tank company is designed to close
with and destroy enemy forces, using fire, maneuver, and shock
effect.  This revision incorporates concept changes, applies
updated MARC, and applies incremental TOE development procedures.

        (3)  This version of the TOE is prepared in accordance with
the provisions of current TOE development regulations and guidance.

        (4)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE
comply with criteria in AR 220-1, Unit Status Reporting.

        (5)  The unit manpower requirement criteria (MARC) code is
11A.  This is a combat unit that operates in the corps area.  It is
considered a mobile unit and normally maneuvers/moves.

2.  EMPLOYMENT. The tank company is employed under the control of
the squadron commander or unit commander to which attached.  This
unit has the minimum essential personnel and equipment required for
combat operations.

3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.

    a.  PARAGRAPH 01, Company Headquarters.

        (1)  Functions.  Provides the command and control, unit
administration, and logistical support required to conduct unit
operations.  To accomplish these functions, the company commander
is assisted by an executive officer, first sergeant,
tank commander/master gunner, gunner/assistant tank commander,
tank commander, NBC NCO, supply sergeant, carrier driver, gunner,
two tank crewmen, armorer, and two tank crewman (loader).

        (1)  Functions.  Destroys enemy forces using fire,
maneuver, and shock effect, and capitalizes on the mobility, armor
protection, and firepower of the tank.  To accomplish these
functions, each platoon leader is assisted by a platoon sergeant,
two tank commanders, four gunners/assistant tank commanders, four
tank crewmen, and four tank crewman (loader).
