1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE A COMBAT MANEUVER FORCE OF
COMBINED ARMS AND SERVICES TO PERFORM RECONNAISSANCE, AND
CONDUCT SECURITY OPERATIONS AS AN ECONOMY OF FORCE.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  TO HEAVY CORPS.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

        (1)  CONDUCTS GROUND AND AERIAL RECONNAISSANCE.

        (2)  PROVIDES SECURITY AS AN ECONOMY OF FORCE BY
CONDUCTING OFFENSIVE AND DEFENSIVE OPERATIONS.

        (3)  OPERATES AS AN ARMORED TASK FORCE WHEN
SUITABLY REINFORCED.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2, TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR
LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-
1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT MEDICAL
PERSONNEL AND THE CHAPLAIN, ASSIST IN THE COORDINATED
DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ORGANIC
EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON:

        (1)  A U.S. AIR FORCE TACTICAL AIR CONTROL PARTY FOR
DIRECTING TACTICAL AIR SUPPORT.

        (2)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE CORPS FOR LEGAL,
FINANCE, AND PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION SERVICES.

        (3)  APPROPRIATE CORPS AVIATION MAINTENANCE
COMPANY FOR AVIATION INTERMEDIATE MAINTENANCE
(AVIM) SUPPORT.

        (4)  CORPS SIGNAL BRIGADE, TOE 11400L200, FOR
SUPPLEMENTAL SIGNAL SUPPORT WHEN CONDUCTING INDEPENDENT
OPERATIONS.

        (5)  CORPS FOR DIRECT SUPPORT, GENERAL SUPPORT,
AND/OR GENERAL SUPPORT REINFORCING FIELD ARTILLERY FIRE
SUPPORT.

4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  ONE PER HEAVY CORPS.

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT
