2.  MISSION/CAPABILITIES/SECTION I.

    a.  Perform reconnaissance and security missions in
    support of division operations.

    b.  Perform rear area operations, facilitate division
    command and control, and conduct other operations as
    designated by the division.

    c.  See TOE Section I for a complete list of capabilities
    and limitations of this organization and its subordinate
    units.

3.  ASSIGNMENT.  Organic to a Division Aviation Brigade, Heavy

4.  PERSONNEL.

    the development of these TOEs and are reflected in the  Cost
    Analysis Summaries.

    d.  The difference in cost are primarily due to the
    modernization of equipment from the BTOE to the OTOE.

1.  MISSION.  PERFORM GROUND RECONNAISSANCE AND SURVEILLANCE
IN SUPPORT OF DIVISION OPERATIONS.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO A CAVALRY SQUADRON, TOE 17285F.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES:

        (1) GROUND RECONNAISSANCE AND SURVEILLANCE WITHIN, AND
TO THE FRONT, FLANKS, AND REAR OF DIVISION.

        (2) ASSISTANCE IN THE MOVEMENT CONTROL OF DIVISIONAL
AND NONDIVISIONAL UNITS WITHIN AND THROUGH THE DIVISION'S
AREA OF OPERATION.

        (3) ASSISTANCE IN DIVISION COMMAND AND CONTROL BY
PROVIDING A POSITIVE COMMAND LINK BETWEEN THE DIVISION AND
SUBORDINATE ELEMENTS.

        (4) SURVEILLANCE AND RECONNAISSANCE TO FACILITATE
THE REAR BATTLE.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
FOR LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT
FOR UNIT CATEGORIES, SEE AR 310-25

6.  MOBILITY.

    A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 46120 POUNDS
(3462 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 41315 POUNDS (2994 CUBIC FEET) OF
TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT
AND SUPPLIES TO BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS

    b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions
of Table(s) of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

        (1)  TOE 17287F000 replaces 17287L000 for the Armored
Cavalry Troop, Armored Cavalry Squadron.

        (2) All Equipment Readiness Codes (ERC) in the TOE comply
with the criteria in AR 220-1, Unit Status Reporting. The ERC are
aligned at the paragraph level of detail.

        (3)  This version of the TOE is prepared in accordance with
the provisions of current TOE development regulations and guidance.

        (4)  The unit MARC Code is 11A.  This is a combat unit that
operates in  the forward area.  This unit moves frequently and must
be 100% mobile.

2.  EMPLOYMENT.

    a.  The armored cavalry troop performs reconnaissance and
security missions to protect and preserve the fighting ability of the
units to which it is assigned or attached.  The troop also conducts
offensive and defensive operations, normally as an economy of force.

3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.

    a.  PARAGRAPH 01, TROOP HEADQUARTERS.

        (1)  Functions. Provides command and control for the conduct
of combat, logistical, and training functions of the troop.  To
accomplish this function, the troop commander is assisted by an XO, a
1SG, a tank commander/master gunner, a supply sergeant, an armorer, a
gunner/assistant tank commander, an NBC NCO, two carrier drivers, two
tank crewman, a Cavalry Fighting Vehicle (CFV) gunner and driver, and
a vehicle driver.

        (2)  Personnel requirements not covered by regulatory
guidance: NONE.

        (3)  Major equipment requirements:

        (1) Function.  Performs unit level maintenance on organic
equipment and operates one recovery vehicle for recovery of disabled
tracked and wheeled vehicles.  The section consists of a maintenance
supervisor, four BFVS mechanics, two BFVS turret mechanics, one tank
automotive mechanic, two tank turret mechanics, two recovery vehicle
operations, a signal support systems maintainer, a quartermaster/
chemical equipment repairer, a TAMMS clerk, and a PLL clerk.

        (2) Personnel requirements not covered by regulatory
