                                                 CORPS SIGNAL BRIGADE
                                    DESIGNATION: ----- SIGNAL BRIGADE CORPS (ABN)
   1.  MISSION:

       A.  TO INSTALL, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A CORPS
   COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.

       B.  TO PROVIDE INTERNAL COMMAND POST COMMUNICATIONS
   SUPPORT TO CORPS MAIN, TACTICAL COMMAND POST AND
   COSCOM/REAR.

       C.  TO PROVIDE AREA COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT TO MAJOR
   SUBORDINATE COMMANDS OF THE CORPS.

       D.  TO PROVIDE A CORPS SPECIAL STAFF AND TECHNICAL
   COMMUNICATIONS-ELECTRONICS ASSISTANCE TO THE CORPS
   COMMANDER.

       E.  TO PROVIDE INTERMEDIATE DIRECT SUPPORT (IDS)
   COMSEC/CE MAINTENANCE TO UNITS WITHIN THE BATTALION AND IDS
   MAINTENANCE OF CLASSIFIED COMSEC FOR SUBORDINATE ELEMENTS OF
   CORPS.

   2.  ASSIGNMENT:  TO THE CORPS, (ABN).

   3.  CAPABILITIES:

       A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES ON A 24-HOUR BASIS:

           (1)  A COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM FOR THE CORPS.

           (2)  PLANNING, ENGINEERING AND CONTROL OF CORPS
   COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.

       B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
   FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
   FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
   FOR LEVEL 3.

       C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

       D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
   DESIGNED TO RELATE TO CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1,
   UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

       E. THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ORGANIC
   EQUIPMENT.

       F.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT THE
   CHAPLAIN, CAN ASSIST IN COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S
   AREA OR INSTALLATION.

       G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON:

           (1)  THE CORPS AVIATION BRIGADE FOR AIRCRAFT SUPPORT
   FOR COMMAND AND CONTROL OF DISPERSED SITES,
   SUPPLEMENTAL TRANSPORTATION, EVACUATION AND REPLACEMENT OF
   CRITICAL EQUIPMENT, AERIAL MESSENGER AS REQUIRED AND
   CP/RELAY SITE RECONNAISSANCE AS REQUIRED.

           (2)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE CORPS FOR HEALTH
   SERVICES, FINANCE, LEGAL, PERSONNEL ADMINISTRATION
   SERVICES, SUPPLEMENTAL TRANSPORTATION, AND AUDIO-VISUAL
   SUPPORT.

   4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  ONE PER CORPS (ABN).

   5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY II UNIT.

   6.  MOBILITY:  FOR MOBILITY OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL COMPONENTS
   OF THIS ORGANIZATION, SEE SECTION I, GENERAL, OF THE
   RESPECTIVE TABLES OF ORGANIZATION AND EQUIPMENT LISTED AS
   PARAGRAPHS IN SECTION II OF THIS TABLE.

   7.  DOCTRINE.  THE FOLLOWING DOCTRINAL PUBLICATIONS ARE
   APPLICABLE TO THE OPERATION OF THIS UNIT:

       A.  FM 24-1, COMBAT COMMUNICATIONS.

       B.  FM 24-17, TACTICAL TELECOMMUNICATIONS OPERATIONS.

       C.  FM 24-18, FIELD RADIO TECHNIQUES.

       D.  FM 11-92, COMBAT COMMUNICATIONS WITHIN THE CORPS.
