                                           DESIGNATION:  ----- SIGNAL BRIGADE (CORPS) (MSE)
   1.  MISSION.  TO INSTALL, OPERATE AND MAINTAIN A MOBILE
   SUBSCRIBER EQUIPMENT (MSE) CORPS COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM;
   TO PROVIDE AREA COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT TO CORPS
   MAIN, CORPS JUMP, TACTICAL, SUPPORT COMMANDS, AND REAR
   COMMAND POSTS; TO PROVIDE AREA COMMUNICATIONS SUPPORT TO
   MAJOR SUBORDINATE COMMANDS OF THE CORPS; AND TO PROVIDE
   A CORPS SPECIAL STAFF FOR TECHNICAL COMMUNICATIONS,
   AUTOMATION, AND COMSEC ASSISTANCE TO THE CORPS COMMANDER.

   2.  ASSIGNMENT.  TO A CORPS.

   3.  CAPABILITIES.

       A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES, ON A 24-HOUR BASIS:

          (1)  A CORPS AREA MSE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.

          (2)  PLANNING, ENGINEERING, AND CONTROL OF THE CORPS
   COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM.

          (3)  TWO SYSTEMS CONTROL FACILITIES FOR MANAGEMENT,
   TECHNICAL CONTROL, AND PLANNING THE MSE COMMUNICATIONS
   SYSTEM.

          (4) TWENTY-TWO NODE CENTERS AND FOUR LARGE EXTENSION
   SWITCHES (LES) FOR AREA COMMUNICATIONS COVERAGE OF THE
   CORPS.

          (5) ONE HUNDRED FORTY-FOUR SMALL EXTENSION SWITCHES
   (SES) TO PROVIDE ACCESS TO THE MSE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM
   FOR CORPS WIRE SUBSCRIBERS.

          (6) FORTY-SEVEN RADIO ACCESS UNITS (RAU) TO PROVIDE
   ACCESS TO THE MSE COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM FOR MOBILE
   SUBSCRIBER RADIO TERMINAL (MSRT) SUBSCRIBERS.

          (7) TWO HUNDRED SIXTY-ONE LINE-OF-SIGHT (LOS) RADIOS
   FOR INTERCONNECTION OF NODE CENTERS AND SMALL EXTENSION
   SWITCHES.

          (8) FOUR LOS RADIOS AND FOUR WIRE NATO INTERFACE UNITS
   FOR MSE SYSTEM ACCESS TO ALLIED UNITS, WITH THE APPLICATION
   OF THE TACTICAL SATELLITE INCREMENTAL CHANGE PACKAGE (ICP).

          (9)  SIX TACTICAL SATELLITE MULTICHANNEL TERMINALS FOR
   LONG-HAUL COMMUNICATIONS TO SUBORDINATE ELEMENTS, WITH
   APPLICATION OF THE ICP.

       B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
   FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
   FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
   FOR LEVEL 3.

       C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

       D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
   DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED BY AR
   220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

       E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT THE
   CHAPLAIN, CAN ASSIST IN COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S
   AREA OR INSTALLATION.

       F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC
   EQUIPMENT.

       G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON:

           (1)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE CORPS FOR LEGAL,
   HEALTH SERVICE SUPPORT, FINANCE, PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE
   SERVICES, AND VISUAL INFORMATION SUPPORT.

           (2)  COMMAND AVIATION BATTALION (CORPS), TOE
   01415L000, FOR AIRCRAFT SUPPORT FOR COMMAND AND CONTROL OF
   DISPERSED SITES, EVACUATION AND REPLACEMENT OF CRITICAL
   EQUIPMENT, AERIAL MOVEMENT OF MAINTENANCE CONTACT TEAMS,
   AND SITE RECONNAISSANCE.

   4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  ONE PER CORPS.

   5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY II UNIT.

   6.  MOBILITY.  FOR MOBILITY OF THE ORGANIZATIONAL
   COMPONENTS OF THIS UNIT, SEE SECTION I, GENERAL,
   OF THE RESPECTIVE TABLES OF ORGANIZATION AND
   EQUIPMENT LISTED AS PARAGRAPHS IN SECTION II OF THIS
   TOE.
