TO MAINTAIN AN SHF TACTICAL SATELLITE (TACSAT) LINK TO HIGHER HEADQUARTERS/CONUS AS WELL AS LINE OF SIGHT (LOS) UHF RADIO LINKS TO SUBORDINATE AND ADJACENT HEADQUARTERS. E. TO PROVIDE A DIVISION SIGNAL STAFF FOR TECHNICAL ASSISTANCE TO PLAN AND CONTROL COMMUNICATIONS, AUTOMATION AND COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY (COMSEC) FOR THE DIVISION. F. TO PROVIDE DIRECT SUPPORT (DS) COMSEC MAINTENANCE FOR CLASSIFIED ASSETS AND TO PROVIDE THE DIVISION CENTRAL OFFICE OF RECORD. E. AUGMENTED BY TOE 11568LA00 TO MEET THE FORCED ENTRY MISSION. 2. ASSIGNMENT. ORGANIC TO AN AIR ASSAULT DIVISION, TOE 67000L000 AND AN AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE 57000L000. WHEN TOE 11065L300 IS ORGANIC TO AN AIRBORNE DIVISION, PERSONNEL MUST BE QUALIFIED PARACHUTISTS. 3. CAPABILITIES. A. AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT PROVIDES: (1) THREE MSE COMMUNICATION NODES AND TWO CONTINGENCY COMMUNICATION NODES. (2) A COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM PLANNING ELEMENT (CSPE) A COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM CONTROL ELEMENT (CSCE), AND AT EACH OF THE AREA SIGNAL NODES, A COMMUNICATIONS NODAL CONTROL ELEMENT (CNCE) FOR INTERNAL MANAGEMENT OF THE NODE. (3) A SYSTEM CONTROL MANAGEMENT CENTER (SCMC) AND A SYSTEM CONTROL TECHNICAL CENTER (SCTC) TO PROVIDE THE AUTOMATED TECHNICAL AND MANAGERIAL CONTROL FOR MSE ASSEMBLAGES. (4) ONE NET RADIO INTERFACE (NRI) AT EACH NODE TO BE DEPLOYED WITH ONE OF THE SMALL EXTENSION SWITCHES (SES) AND TWO NRI AT EACH CONTINGENCY COMMUNICATION NODE. (5) FOUR ASSAULT RETRANS TEAMS TO PROVIDE CNR RETRANS FOR THE DIVISION AND SIGNAL BATTALION FM NETS, PROVIDE RAPIDLY DEPLOYABLE IHFR AND SINGLE CHANNEL TACSAT SUPPORT TO THE DIVISION MAIN, DIVISION CP, REAR, DISCOM AND DIVISION BRIGADES. (6) SWITCHING FACILITIES TO PROVIDE MOBILE/WIRE ACCESS, AND INTERNAL AND EXTERNAL INTERFACE WITH THE AREA COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEM. B. THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%, FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2, TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR LEVEL 3. WHEN ORGANIZED AT LEVEL 3, THE FOLLOWING FACILITIES CANNOT BE OPERATED: 2 SMALL EXTENSION SWITCHES, 2 LOS RADIOS, 1 RADIO ACCESS UNIT, AND 1 FM RETRANSMISSION STATION. C. THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION. D. THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING. E. INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION CAN ASSIST IN THE COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION. F. THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC EQUIPMENT, AND DIRECT SUPPORT (DS) MAINTENANCE ON SIGNAL AND CCI EQUIPMENT IN THE BATTALION AND DIRECT SUPPORT (DS) MAINTENANCE FOR CLASSIFIED COMSEC FOR THE DIVISION. G. THIS ORGANIZATION IS DEPENDENT UPON APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS FOR PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, FINANCE, UNIT LEVEL HEALTH SERVICE, RELIGIOUS ACTIVITIES, LEGAL SERVICES, VISUAL INFORMATION SUPPORT, FOOD AND FUEL SERVICE SUPPORT FOR FORWARD DEPLOYED LOS, LES, AND SES TEAM PERSONNEL. 4. BASIS OF ALLOCATION. ONE PER AIR ASSAULT DIVISION, TOE 67000L000 AND AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE 57000L000. 5. CATEGORY. THIS ORGANIZATION IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY II UNIT.
