    b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions of

        (1) Cyclic review .

        (2) This review applies concept changes , updates
manpower requirements criteria (MARC) , and applies L-edition TOE
development procedures.

        (3)  This version of the TOE has been prepared in accordance
with the provisions of current TOE development regulations and
guidance.

        (4)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE have
been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in AR 220-1,
Unit Status Reporting.

        (5)  The unit MARC Code is 11A.  This is a combat unit that
operates in the division area. The unit is mobile and moves
frequently.

2.  EMPLOYMENT. The field artillery battery consists of two firing
platoon headquarters, two battery fire direction centers, six
howitzer sections, and two ammunition sections. The battery is
positioned to provide the most effective indirect fire support
possible to supported/reinforced units commensurate with the terrain,
and responsiveness to higher headquarters.

        (1)  The function of the battery headquarters is to exercise
command and control over all elements of the battery and to conduct
unit administration and organizational supply activities in support
of battery operations.
