                          EXECUTIVE SUMMARY



1.  PURPOSE. The attached draft TOE is a conversion of the
L edition TOE for the Field Artillery Battery, LID 06107L000
from a eight gun battery to a six gun battery.  The
This TOE is designed to conduct split battery operations,
thus it has two firing platoon headquarters, two Fire Direction
Centers(FDC), six 155mm towed howitzers and two ammunition
sections.

    e.  Major Changes.

        (1)  As a part of the conversion process, this DTOE has
been updated to reflect current standards of grade, manpower
requirements criteria (MARC), basis of issue plans (BOIP), latest
approved operations facility (OPFAC) rules and doctrine.

        (2)  The base TOE was reviewd to ensure that only those
items of modernization equipment authorized by DA were documented
in the base.  All other modernization equipment is documented in
the modernization path for this TOE.

2.  MISSION/CAPABILITIES/SECTION I.

    a.  The Field Artillery Battery (TOE 06107A000) destroys,
neutralizes or surpresses the enemy by conventional cannon fire.

    b.  See TOE Section 1 for a complete list of capabilities and
limitations of this organization.

3.  ASSIGNMENT.  The Field Artillery Battery is organic to the
Light Infantry Division Artillery 06100L000.

4.  PERSONNEL.

    a.  Differences between design and documented OTOE requirements
where the design OTOE equals the unit strength CAP.

    b.  MARC Deviations. None.

    c.  TOE 06107A000 has force impact on officers or NCO as
detailed below.

    e.  The TOE documents the minimum essential personnel
requirements for accomplishing the wartime mission.  The risk
resulting from decrements is that there will be a corresponding
reduction of overall efficiency which will impact on effectiveness.
Each command will absorb decrements based on conditions existing
at the time.

5.  EQUIPMENT.

    a.  Equipment reflected in this TOE represents the minimum
essential wartime requirements.

    b. HQDA approved the documentation of the following items of
modernization equipment in this base TOE:  None.

    c.  HQDA approved commodity consumption rates were used in the
development of these TOEs and are reflected in the  Cost Analysis
Summaries.

    d.  The difference in cost is primarily due to the application of
current MARC, SG, BOIP and doctrine.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT DELIVERS CONVENTIONAL FIELD
ARTILLERY CANNON FIRES.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVEL 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR
REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITY IN DECREMENTS OF 10 PERCENT,
FROM APPROXIMATELY 90 PERCENT FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80
PERCENT FOR LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1,
UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

(9,303 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC
VEHICLES.

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 34,281 POUNDS (2,945 CUBIC FEET) OF
TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT
AND SUPPLIES BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS
