TO INCREASE THE COMBAT EFFECTIVENESS OF THE HEAVY DIVISION BY ACCOMPLISHING MOBILITY, COUNTERMOBILILTY, AND LIMITED SURVIVABILITY ENGINEERING TASKS. B. TO FIGHT AS INFANTRY, WHEN REQUIRED. 2. ASSIGNMENT. ORGANIC TO THE HEAVY DIVISION, TOE 87000L000. 3. CAPABILITIES. A. AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT: (1) PROVIDES ADVICE TO THE DIVISION COMMANDER AND STAFF, AND TO ALL DIVISIONAL ELEMENT COMMANDERS AND STAFFS, ON ENGINEER UNIT CAPABILITIES, ENGINEER UTILIZATION IN DIVISIONAL PLANS, AND COMBAT ENGINEERING IMPACTS ON DIVISION OPERATIONS. (2) PLANS, COORDINATES, AND STAFF SUPERVISES ACTIVITIES OF ASSIGNED, ATTACHED, AND SUPPORTING ENGINEER UNITS ENGAGED IN MOBILITY, COUNTERMOBILITY, SURVIVABILITY, GENERAL ENGINEERING, AND TOPOGRAPHIC ENGINEERING. (3) PREPARES AND MAINTAINS ESSENTIAL COMBAT ROUTES IN THE DIVISION AREA. (4) PERFORMS EXPEDIENT REPAIR OF ESSENTIAL BRIDGES, FORDS, AND ROADS. (5) PROVIDES, EMPLACES, AND MAINTAINS ASSAULT BRIDGES TO SPAN 36 SIXTY FOOT GAPS SIMULTANEOUSLY. (6) PROVIDES ENGINEER SUPPORT FOR THE CONSTRUCTION OF OBSTACLES AND DEFENSIVE POSITIONS. (7) SUPPORTS COMBINED ARMS OBSTACLE BREACHING OPERATIONS. (8) PROVIDES TECHNICAL ADVICE, ASSISTANCE, AND TRAINING IN MINE WARFARE, FIELD FORTIFICATIONS, CAMOUFLAGE, DEMOLITIONS, AND ENGINEER RECONNAISSANCE. (9) PROVIDES ADVICE TO MANEUVER COMMANDERS ON EMPLOYMENT OF ALL SCATTERABLE MINES. (10) PROVIDES ENGINEER INFORMATION AND PROCESSES ENGINEER INTELLIGENCE. (11) WHEN REQUIRED, FIGHTS AS INFANTRY IAW CHAPTER 6, FM 5-100, ENGINEER OPERATIONS (12) PROVIDES COMBAT SERVICE SUPPORT FOR ORGANIC AND ATTACHED UNITS. B. THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%, FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2, TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR LEVEL 3. C. THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION. D. THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING. E. INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION, EXCEPT MEDICAL AND MINISTRY PERSONNEL, CAN ENGAGE IN THE COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNITS AREA OR INSTALLATION. F. UNIT MAINTENANCE. THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ORGANIC EQUIPMENT, EXCEPT MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. G. DEPENDENCIES. (1) THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION OR CORPS FOR HEALTH SERVICES, LEGAL, FINANCE PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES, AND MAINTENANCE OF MEDICAL EQUIPMENT. (2) CORPS ENGINEER UNITS; TOE 05423L, 05425L, OR 05435L, WILL REINFORCE DIVISIONAL ENGINEERS WITH ADDITIONAL COMBAT AND CONSTRUCTION PERSONNEL AND EQUIPMENT FOR SUSTAINMENT ENGINEERING. (3) ENGINEER BRIDGE UNITS; TOE 05463L, 05493L, AND/OR 05473L FOR TACTICAL BRIDGING EQUIPMENT. 4. BASIS OF ALLOCATION. ONE PER HEAVY DIVISION, TOE 87000L000. 5. CATEGORY.
