   1.  MISSION.

       A.  TO INCREASE THE COMBAT EFFECTIVENESS OF THE
   ENGINEER BATTALION AND SUPPORTED MANEUVER TASK FORCE BY
   ACCOMPLISHING MOBILITY, COUNTERMOBILITY, AND LIMITED
   SURVIVABILITY MISSIONS.

       B.  TO PERFORM AIRBORNE INFANTRY COMBAT MISSIONS WHEN
   REQUIRED.

   2.  ASSIGNMENT.  ORGANIC TO THE ENGINEER BATTALION,
   AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE 05025L000.

   3.  CAPABILITIES.

       A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

       (1)  PROVIDES ADVICE TO THE MANEUVER TASK FORCE
   COMMANDERS AND THEIR STAFFS ON ENGINEER UNIT CAPABILITIES,
   ENGINEER UTILIZATION, AND COMBAT ENGINEERING IMPACT ON
   TASK FORCE PLANS AND OPERATIONS.

       (2)  ASSISTS IN THE ASSAULT BREACH OF OBSTACLES AND
   FORTIFIED POSITIONS.

       (3)  PERFORMS OBSTACLE REDUCTION, TO INCLUDE COVERT
   BREACHES, AS PART OF BREACHING OPERATIONS.

       (4)  CONDUCTS ENGINEER RECONNAISSANCE AND PROVIDES
   LIMITED MILITARY GEOGRAPHIC INFORMATION.

       (5)  EMPLACE AND ASSIST IN EMPLACING TACTICAL
   MINEFIELDS.

       (6)  PREPARE AND EXECUTE OTHER TACTICAL OBSTACLES TO
   DEGRADE ENEMY MOBILITY.

       (7)  PREPARE RESERVE TARGETS FOR DEMOLITION, SUCH AS
   ROADS, BRIDGES, FORDS, RAILROADS, AND AIRFIELD RUNWAYS.

       (8)  CONDUCTS INFANTRY OPERATIONS, IAW CHAPTER 6,
   FM 5-100, ENGINEER OPERATIONS, WHEN REQUIRED.

       B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE
   FOR REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%,
   FROM APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80%
   FOR LEVEL 3.

       C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

       D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
   DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR
   220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

       E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION CAN ASSIST IN
   COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

       F.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT UPON:

       (1)  APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS OF THE DIVISION FOR LEGAL,
   FINANCE, COMBAT HEALTH SUPPORT, COMMUNICATIONS SECURITY
   EQUIPMENT (COMSEC) REPAIR, AND PERSONNEL AND
   ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.

       (2)  HEADQUARTERS AND HEADQUARTERS COMPANY, ENGINEER
   BATTALION, TOE 05026L000, FOR UNIT MAINTENANCE OF ALL
   ORGANIC EQUIPMENT EXCEPT COMSEC EQUIPMENT, ENGINEER
   EQUIPMENT SUPPORT, UNIT LEVEL ADMINISTRATION AND COMBAT
   HEALTH SUPPORT, AND FIELD FEEDING.

   4.  BASIS OF ALLOCATION.  THREE PER ENGINEER BATTALION,
   AIRBORNE DIVISION, TOE 05025L000.

   5.  CATEGORY.  THIS UNIT IS DESIGNATED A CATEGORY I UNIT.

   6.  MOBILITY.

       A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 52,200 POUNDS
   (1,711 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE EQUIPMENT WITH ORGANIC VEHICLES.

       B.  THIS UNIT HAS 21,830 POUNDS (1,883 CUBIC FEET) OF
   TOE EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

       C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100 PERCENT OF ITS TOE
   EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT
   USING ITS AUTHORIZED ORGANIC VEHICLES.  (SOURCE: ENGINEER

1.  GENERAL.

         b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions
of Table(s) of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

                 (1) Cyclic review of the L-edition TOE.

                 (2) This base TOE revises the current L-edition
of the Engineer Battalion, Airborne Division TOE to align it with
current doctrine concepts and techniques, OPFAC rules and
documentation procedures, and updates the MARC driven positions.

                 (3) This version of the TOE has been prepared
in accordance with the provisions of current TOE development
regulations and guidance.

                 (4) All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this
TOE have been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in
AR 220-1, Unit Status Reporting.

                 (5) The unit MARC Code is 21A.  This is a combat
support unit that operates in the division area.  It is considered
a mobile unit that normally maneuvers or moves to provide support.

2.  EMPLOYMENT.  Normally located within the brigades area of
operation.  The MARC code is 21A which indicates that this unit
is a combat support unit, located in the division area, with one
base and relocates in three days.  This unit increases the
combat effectiveness of the Airborne Division by accomplishing
mobility, countermobility, and survivability missions, and
performs airborne infantry combat missions when required.


3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS.

GENERAL REMARK:  The only personnel listed in this paragraph are
those personnel not covered by criteria and measurable manpower
authorization standards contained in AR 570-2.  This paragraph
also lists supervisory personnel requirements and includes
personnel requirements supported by doctrine but not reflected
in regulatory guidance.

supply, commo, and NBC support to unit combat engineer operations.
