3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

    (1)  OPERATES UP TO THIRTY-FIVE DETECTION/IDENTIFICATION
TEAMS.

    (2)  COLLECTS KNOWN OR SUSPECTED SAMPLES OF BIOLOGICAL
AGENTS.

    (3)  HAS LIMITED CHEMICAL DETECTION CAPABILITIES.

    (4)  PROVIDES TWENTY-FOUR HOUR OPERATIONS UNDER ALL
WEATHER CONDITIONS.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THIS TABLE FOR
REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10%, FROM
APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 AND TO APPROXIMATELY 80% FOR
LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO TYPE B ORGANIZATIONS.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVEL BY LEVEL 1 THROUGH 3
ARE DESIGNED TO RELATE TO THE CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR
220-1, UNIT STATUS REPORTING.

    E.  INDIVIDUALS OF THIS ORGANIZATION CAN ASSIST IN THE
COORDINATED DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ALL ORGANIC
EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON APPROPIATE ELEMENTS OF THE
CORPS OR THEATER ARMY FOR RELIGIOUS, LEGAL, HEALTH SERVICE
SUPPORT, FINANCE, AND PERSONNEL AND ADMINISTRATIVE SERVICES.

    A.  THIS UNIT IS CAPABLE OF TRANSPORTING 396,700 POUNDS

    B.  THIS UNIT HAS 76,796 POUNDS (7,413 CUBIC FEET) OF TOE
EQUIPMENT REQUIRING TRANSPORTATION.

    C.  THIS UNIT REQUIRES 100% OF ITS TOE EQUIPMENT AND
SUPPLIES BE TRANSPORTED IN A SINGLE LIFT USING ITS AUTHORIZED

1.  GENERAL.

    b.  Purpose and authority for the preparation and revisions
of Table(s) of Organization and Equipment (TOE).

        (1)  Cyclic Review.

        (2)  This Base TOE (BTOE) revises the current A-Edition
of the Chimical Company (Bio Detection) which provides early
warning, detection, location, and identification of biological
agents and or biological  warfare for the army.

        (3)  This version of the TOE has been prepared in
accordance with the provisions of current TOE development
regulations and guidance.

        (4)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE
have been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria
in AR 220-1, Unit Status Reporting.  They also have been
reviewed to ensure they are aligned at the paragraph level of
detail.

        (5)  The unit MARC code is 22A in accordance with
AR 570-2.  This is a combat support unit which operates in
Division, Corps, TAACOM areas, and moves frequently.

2.  EMPLOYMENT:

    a.  The Biological Integrated Detection System (BIDS)
operates throughout the Division, Corps, TAACOM sector based
on established priorities of support.

    b.  The company is organized with headquarters section,
maintenance section, and five BIDS platoons.  Each platoon is
divided into seven teams, for a total of seven systems (teams)
per platoon (35 per company) which perform the actual
detection/identification mission under the control of the leader.
The platoon may not be collocated with the rest of the company
headquarters due to the distances involved in detection,
identification in the Division, Corps, TAACOM sectors.  This
organization has the minimum personnel and equipment required
for command and control and unit maintenance during mission
operations.

    c.  In a field environment each BIDS will be self
sustaining, operate independently, and may be separated by 10
to 100KM.  Each team/system consists of two vehicles, one to
ransport the BIDS and one to transport biological samples to a
medical laboratory in the rear, a 15 KW generator supports the
BIDS and two radios, one FM and one AM.  The systems operate
over long distance in the Division/Corps/TAACOM sectors, an AM
radio is required to transmit verification and warning of a
biological attack.  The FM radio is required to operate in the
units net in which the BIDS is located.


3.  METHODS OF OPERATIONS AND FUNCTIONS:

    a.  PARAGRAPH 01, HEADQUARTERS SECTION.

        (1)  Functions of the Headquarters Section are to
provide the company with the command and control, administration
and logistical support required to conduct unit operations.  The
commander is assisted by the operations officer, a first sergeant,
a supply sergeant, a food service sergeant, and other enlisted
personnel named in Section II in accomplishing this function.

         (2) Personnel requirements not covered by regulatory
guidance:
