1.  MISSION.  TO PROVIDE NBC RECONNAISSANCE SUPPORT TO THE
CORPS/THEATER ARMY.

2.  ASSIGNMENT.  TO A CORPS/TAACOM CHEMICAL BATTALION LTOE
03475L100/L200.

3.  CAPABILITIES.

    A.  AT LEVEL 1, THIS UNIT:

        (1)  CONDUCTS ROUTE, ZONE AND AREA NBC RECONNAISSANCE
(RECON) TO DETERMINE THE PRESENCE AND EXTENT OF NBC
CONTAMINATION.

        (2)  PROVIDE RADIATION MONITORING AND CHEMICAL AGENT
DETECTION IN SUPPORT OF NUCLEAR AND CHEMICAL ACCIDENT AND
INCIDENT CONTROL PLAN OPERATIONS.

        (3)  PROVIDE CONVENTIONAL ROUTE, ZONE AND AREA RECON.
THIS CAPABILITY WILL BE REDUCED AFTER THE USE OF NBC WEAPONS.

    B.  THE COLUMNS UNDER LEVELS 2 AND 3 ADAPT THE TABLE FOR
REDUCED OPERATIONAL CAPABILITIES IN DECREMENTS OF 10% FROM
APPROXIMATELY 90% FOR LEVEL 2 TO APPROXIMATELY 80% AT LEVEL 3.

    C.  THIS UNIT IS NOT ADAPTABLE TO A TYPE B ORGANIZATION.

    D.  THE COLUMNS DESIGNATED BY LEVELS 1 THROUGH 3 ARE
DESIGNED TO RELATE TO CATEGORIES ESTABLISHED IN AR 220-1, UNIT
STATUS REPORTING.

    E. INDIVIDUALS IN THIS UNIT CAN ASSIST IN THE COORDINATED
DEFENSE OF THE UNIT'S AREA OR INSTALLATION.

    F.  THIS UNIT PERFORMS UNIT MAINTENANCE ON ITS ORGANIC
VEHICLES AND EQUIPMENT.

    G.  THIS UNIT IS DEPENDENT ON THE APPROPRIATE ELEMENTS
THE CORPS OR THEATER ARMY FOR LEGAL, HEALTH SERVICES, FINANCE,

        (3)  This version of the TOE has been prepared in accordance
with the provisions of current TOE development regulations and
guidance.

        (4)  All equipment readiness codes (ERCs) in this TOE have
been reviewed to ensure strict compliance with criteria in AR 220-1,
Unit Status Reporting.  They also have been reviewed to ensure they
are aligned at the paragraph level of detail.

        (5)  The unit MARC code is 22A.  This is a combat
support unit that operates in the division area.  The unit is
mobile and normally maneuvers/moves.


2.  EMPLOYMENT.  The Chemical Company, Recon is assigned to the
CORPS/TAACOM Chemical Bn, TOE 03475L100/200, and may operate anywhere
within the CORPS/Division sector. It is normally employed in route,
area, and zone NBC recon. The basic element of the organization is
the team which performs recon functions under the direction of the
squad and platoon leaders.
